Move content from your previous site

Before you start

If your previous site was built with WordPress, the "Import from WordPress" («انتقال از وردپرس») page brings its posts, pages, categories and images into this shop. The old addresses are moved to the new addresses too.

• The address of your previous site must start with https.

• Nothing on your previous site is changed; it is only read.

• The transfer runs in the background. You can leave the page and come back later.

Check the site first

1. Open the "Import from WordPress" page.

2. In "WordPress site address" («نشانی سایت وردپرسی») write the address of your previous site; for example https://example.com.

3. Under "What should come over?" («چه چیزهایی بیاید؟») choose what you want to move:

• "Posts" («نوشته‌ها»): they come to the shop's blog.

• "Pages" («برگه‌ها»): they come to the shop's pages.

• "Post categories" («دسته‌های نوشته‌ها»).

• "Post images" («تصویرهای نوشته‌ها»): they are copied and stay in the shop's media.

• "Move old addresses to the new ones" («انتقال نشانی‌های قدیمی به جدید»): so that Google and old links do not break.

4. Click "Check the site" («بررسی سایت»). While the check runs, the button shows "Checking the site…" («در حال بررسی سایت…»). If the address is empty or nothing is chosen, this button stays inactive.

5. Read the result of the check. Nothing has been moved yet at this point:

• The name and address of the site, and four numbers for "Post" («نوشته»), "Page" («برگه»), "Category" («دسته») and "Image" («تصویر»); this is what was found.

• If you chose to move old addresses, you see how many addresses will be moved, next to the sentence "old address is moved to its new address" («نشانی قدیمی به نشانی تازه‌اش منتقل می‌شود»).

• A "Note" («نکته») box, if there is something you should know.

• A box "Addresses this shop already has" («نشانی‌هایی که این فروشگاه قبلاً دارد»): these addresses are left alone and skipped.

• "A sample of the posts" («نمونه‌ای از نوشته‌ها») and "A sample of the pages" («نمونه‌ای از برگه‌ها»): for each item you see the address "Now" («الان») and the address "After the transfer" («بعد از انتقال») side by side.

Start the transfer

1. If you want to change your choices, click "Change choices" («تغییر انتخاب‌ها») and go back to the form.

2. If the result of the check looks good, click "Start the transfer" («شروع انتقال»).

3. The page shows "Transfer in progress…" («در حال انتقال…»). For each kind of item being moved, such as posts and images, you see a progress bar and a number like 3 of 10.

4. You can leave the page. The message "You can leave this page; the transfer continues in the background." («می‌توانید از این صفحه بروید؛ انتقال در پس‌زمینه ادامه دارد.») says the same.

5. When the work is finished, you see the message "Transfer finished" («انتقال تمام شد») and the label "Done" («انجام شد»).

After the transfer

Under "Transfer finished", for each kind, that is "Post", "Page", "Category", "Image" and "Move of address" («انتقال نشانی»), you see two numbers: how many items were created as "new" («تازه») and how many were "updated" («به‌روز»).

• If some items were not moved, you see a box with "items skipped" («مورد رد شد») and the count. A reason for skipping can be: "its address already exists in this shop" («نشانی‌اش در این فروشگاه قبلاً هست»).

• If some items hit an error, you see a box with "items were not moved" («مورد منتقل نشد»). The reasons are: "it is bigger than the limit" («حجمش بیشتر از سقف است»), "the file type is not supported" («نوع فایل پشتیبانی نمی‌شود»), "the image is not valid" («تصویر معتبر نیست») and "it could not be downloaded" («دانلود نشد»). For each reason you also see up to three sample addresses.

• You may see a message with the words "unused image was not moved" («تصویر استفاده‌نشده منتقل نشد»). These images were not in any post or page, and this is not an error.

At the bottom of this section you find these buttons:

• "Back to the transfer" («بازگشت به انتقال»): you go back to the form.

• "View posts" («دیدن نوشته‌ها»), "View pages" («دیدن صفحه‌ها») and "View moved addresses" («دیدن انتقال نشانی‌ها»): they open the list of those things in the panel.

• "Import old addresses from a file" («ورود نشانی‌های قدیمی از فایل»): use it if your old addresses are in a file.

When you open the "Import from WordPress" page again, under "Previous transfers" («انتقال‌های قبلی») you see up to five earlier transfers with their status: "Finished" («تمام شد»), "Left half done" («نیمه‌کاره ماند»), "Transferring" («در حال انتقال») or "In the queue" («در صف»). "See the result" («دیدن نتیجه») opens the result of each one again. Only transfers started from this same browser are listed here.

If something did not work

• If you see the message "The transfer was left half done. What was moved stays in place; you can run it again to bring the rest." («انتقال نیمه‌کاره ماند. آنچه منتقل شده سر جایش است؛ می‌توانید دوباره اجرا کنید تا بقیه هم بیاید.»), click "Try again" («تلاش دوباره»). It runs the transfer again with the same choices.

• If you see the message "The connection to the server was lost; try again" («ارتباط با سرور قطع شد؛ دوباره تلاش کنید»), wait a moment and try again.

• If you see another message, the text of that message is your guide; if the problem stays, message support.
